Great Ancestors: Madam Kwei Chen Pen – A distinguished finger painter and Chinese language tutor to Singapore’s founding Prime Minister, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. Born in Nanjing, China, she moved to Singapore in 1945 with her husband, a Kuomintang official at the time. Known for her graceful artistry and dedication to culture, Madam Kwei also played a pivotal role in shaping the artistic spirit of her granddaughter, Amanda. From a young age, Amanda spent countless hours by her grandmother’s side, observing her creative process and learning the beauty of expression through art. These cherished moments left a lasting impression, inspiring Amanda to follow in her footsteps and pursue a lifelong journey in the arts
Career: Amanda is a multifaceted professional—an Art Therapist, Adjunct Lecturer, and Entrepreneur—whose career is rooted in creativity, purpose, and social impact. She began her journey in the advertising industry, working in visual communications where she developed a strong foundation in creative strategy and design thinking. This led her to establish her own branding and design agency, which she successfully ran for over 12 years. During this time, Amanda worked with a wide range of clients, building meaningful brand narratives through design and storytelling. Driven by a deep desire to make a greater difference, Amanda discovered the healing potential of the arts. Inspired by her own creative experiences and her passion for mental wellness, she pursued a Master’s degree in Art Therapy. Now a qualified Art Therapist, she works with children, youth, and individuals with special needs, using art as a powerful tool for expression, healing, and growth. In 2017, Amanda founded Art for Good, a social enterprise rooted in the belief that art can be a catalyst for positive change. The organization provides professional art therapy services, conducts meaningful community art projects, and promotes mental health and emotional well-being through creative expression. Proceeds from its work help support children with special needs, disabilities, and those from low-income families—ensuring that art remains accessible to those who need it most. In addition to her clinical and social enterprise work, Amanda also contributes to the academic field as an Adjunct Lecturer, where she shares her expertise in art therapy and creative practice with aspiring professionals and students. With a strong mission to use art as a bridge for healing and inclusion, Amanda is actively working to expand Art for Good—envisioning more therapeutic spaces, outreach programs, and locations that serve youth, caregivers, and the broader community. Her work continues to be guided by compassion, creativity, and a deep belief in the transformative power of art

Personal Magic Moments: One of the most unforgettable moments in Amanda’s life was the first time her child called her “Mama.” That single word, spoken with innocence and trust, was filled with profound emotion. It was a moment that marked a deep shift—where love, identity, and purpose came together in a way words could hardly describe. For Amanda, hearing "Mama" for the first time was not just a milestone in motherhood, but a powerful reminder of the bonds we create and the meaning we find through nurturing and connection. It’s a memory she holds close to her heart, grounding her through both personal and professional journeys, highlighting the importance of maternal mental health.

Reason of Success: Amanda attributes her success to consistent self-care practices and a steadfast commitment to maintaining a positive outlook on life. She believes that taking care of her mental, emotional, and physical well-being is not a luxury but a necessity, especially in the helping professions. Through daily self-care rituals such as mindfulness, art-making, journaling, and setting healthy boundaries, Amanda ensures she stays grounded and resilient amid the challenges of her work. Equally important is her optimistic mindset. Amanda chooses to see challenges as opportunities for growth and believes in the power of hope, compassion, and purpose-driven action. This balance of inner care and outward positivity enables her to show up fully for her clients, her team, her family, and her mission. It is this philosophy, rooted in self-awareness and empowered living, that continues to fuel her success and sustain her passion for creating meaningful impact through art
