August 2021 – Connecting Seniors Through Art

During the height of the pandemic, concerns grew about how to reach and engage seniors from the Brighton community during lockdown. To bridge the distance, we hosted an online art session via Zoom, guiding seniors in crafting playful Among Us characters. These creations were later gifted to children from low-income families within the Brighton community—spreading joy across generations despite the physical barriers.

The session was more than just an art activity; it became a platform for social workers to interact with and check in on the seniors, ensuring they felt supported and connected during a difficult time. It was a reminder that art can be a bridge—not only between people, but between hearts.

June 2022 – Empowering Children Through Creativity

During the June 2022 school holidays, we conducted four in-person Art Therapy Workshops at Brighton (Simei) and Brighton (MacPherson). Around 40 children from low-income families joined us, diving into creativity through art journaling and hands-on projects.

These workshops aimed to help children regulate their emotions through artmaking, while also building their confidence and empowering them to express themselves freely. The sessions were filled with laughter, colour, and imagination—proving once again that art is not just about making something beautiful, but about nurturing resilience, joy, and self-expression.
