The repetitive process of tying, looping, and knotting creates a natural rhythm that encourages mindfulness.

Step away from the noise and distraction of everyday life for a time to be present.

Macramé Workshop: Healing with Fibre Arts
Ms. Belle Gan | September 2026
Time flies when we are having fun! It was an enjoyable afternoon of knotting for the girls (and one gentleman!). Though we call them the "girls", our participants ranged from teenagers to grandmothers. We also had a mother-daughter duo joining us, making it a lovely opportunity for some parallel play!
During the session, we learnt to make loops and unloops (when mistakes were made!). But sometimes, if we didn't correct a mistake, it could turn into a new pattern of its own.
A little reminder that art doesn't have to be perfect. Sometimes, mistakes can lead to something unexpected and beautiful. After all, art is a forgiving process!

Graphic medicine creates space to communicate and reflect on experiences that can sometimes be difficult to put into words

Graphic Medicine: Stories Through Comics
Dr. Kai (Qing) | August 2026
How do we express pain, and how do we understand the pain of another person?
Graphic medicine helps to bridge the gap. Through comics and illustrations, we get to see everyday experiences from the perspectives of different groups of people, or even revisit shared experiences such as life during the pandemic. Sometimes, a simple illustration can help us connect with someone else's experience in a way that words alone may not.
It sounds like a niche field, but to put simply: use comics/visuals for education on diseases/healthcare/mental wellbeing. It makes experiences more relatable and helps us see things from different perspectives.
Art helps building a more compassionate society - as we understand stories that may be different from our own.
