Religiously, communion of bread and wine is an intimate affair. This getting together over wine and bread also signifies a form of bonding and warmth. 
During dinners, people often get together over a bottle of wine, as they converse over the night, bonding, nibbling off bread sticks, fruit, nuts from the charcuterie board. This painting is a reminder to take a step back from the busy world, and be surrounded by company of friends and loved ones over a meal.
