A mural of wonder: bringing joy to Bethel Community Services Childcare Centre

On 18 July 2026, Art for Good completed a mural that had been growing day by day through many hands, shared laughter, and a collective desire to create something meaningful for children.
At Bethel Community Services Childcare Centre, the corridor has been transformed into a vibrant landscape filled with rainbows, forests, rivers, mountains, animals, flowers, and children exploring the world around them. The mural was designed to spark curiosity and imagination—a place where a turtle, a swan, a deer, rabbits, and colourful birds become part of a child’s everyday journey.
What made this mural especially meaningful was the community behind it.
Our volunteers, families, and the Art for Good team painted side by side, each person contributing a small part to a much larger picture. Some carefully painted trees and clouds, others added animals and flowers, while younger volunteers proudly picked up brushes and helped fill the wall with colour. It was a beautiful reminder that community art is not just about the final mural—it is about the relationships built along the way.
There was something incredibly heartwarming about watching volunteers of different ages work together with such generosity and joy. Every brushstroke became an act of kindness, transforming not only the space but also the experience of creating it together.
The finished mural stretches across the childcare centre with scenes of nature, play, and discovery. Children can wander past rainbows, feed ducks by the water, spot hidden animals among the trees, and imagine adventures beyond the mountains. We hope this colourful environment will bring moments of wonder, comfort, and happiness to the children who pass by it each day.
At Art for Good, we believe that art has the power to create belonging. A mural can brighten a wall, but it can also brighten a childhood memory, a volunteer’s experience, and a community’s sense of connection.
