Finding Space to Heal Through Art: A Session with Lakeside Family Services
Updated: 1 day ago
Sometimes, the things we experience at work can stay with us long after the workday ends. Difficult situations, challenging relationships and emotional experiences can take a toll on us in ways that are not always easy to express.
On 1 July 2025, we welcomed the wonderful team from Lakeside Family Services to our Art for Good Art Studio for an art therapy workshop centred on navigating and processing workplace trauma.
It was an afternoon dedicated to slowing down, looking inward and giving ourselves the space to acknowledge what we may have been carrying.
Giving Emotions a Creative Voice
Through a series of guided art activities, participants were encouraged to explore their experiences and express their emotions through art. There was no expectation to create something perfect or beautiful. Instead, the focus was on the process of creating, reflecting and allowing oneself to express what might sometimes be difficult to put into words.
Art offers unique ways for us to connect with our emotions. A choice of colour, a simple brushstroke or an image on paper communicates feelings that words cannot fully capture.

Making Time and Space for Self
We were heartened to see Lakeside Family Services making the wellbeing of their team a priority by creating this space for reflection and self-care.
A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for spending the afternoon with us. We are especially grateful to every participant for your openness, courage and willingness to engage in the creative process. It was meaningful to witness the different ways everyone approached the session.
We hope that everyone took away something meaningful from the experience, whether it was a new perspective, a moment of clarity or simply the reminder that it is okay to pause and make space for ourselves.
