Art therapy combines the therapeutic relationship with creative processes to help individuals explore emotions, experiences and challenges that may be difficult to express through words alone.

You don't need to be an artist or have any previous art experience. Your art therapist will guide you through creative activities that are thoughtfully adapted to your needs, goals and stage of life.

At Art for Good, art therapy takes place in our welcoming art studio — a creative and comfortable environment that feels approachable, while maintaining the professionalism and therapeutic structure of a clinical setting.

The focus is not on creating "good art". It is on what the creative process can help you explore, express and understand.

Clinical Supervision
We offer clinical supervision for art therapists and practitioners, providing a space for reflective practice, case discussion, professional development and consideration of ethical and clinical issues.

Personal Therapy
Art therapists and art therapy students may also engage in personal therapy at Art for Good. Personal therapy can provide a dedicated space for self-reflection, personal growth and exploring experiences that may arise through training or professional practice.

Clinical Placement Opportunities
We are open to providing clinical placement opportunities for art therapy students, where appropriate, allowing students to develop their clinical skills and gain experience within a community-based art therapy setting under appropriate supervision.

Whether you are developing your clinical practice, seeking your own therapeutic space, or looking for opportunities to gain supervised experience, we aim to create a supportive environment for continued learning and professional growth.
Tell us what you're looking for and we'll be happy to discuss the available opportunities.
Why Art Therapy?
Creative expression can open up new ways of understanding ourselves.

Not everything we experience is easy to put into words.
Art-making can provide another form of expression and exploration within a therapeutic relationship. Through the creative process, an art therapist can support you to explore emotions, develop greater self-awareness, process experiences and consider new ways of coping.
Art therapy may support people who are experiencing:
-
Emotional distress or difficulty managing emotions
-
Stress and anxiety
-
Grief, loss or significant life changes
-
Relationship or communication difficulties
-
Low self-esteem or confidence
-
Behavioural or emotional challenges
-
Difficult experiences that may be hard to verbalise
-
A desire for greater self-understanding and personal growth
Art therapy is not about producing beautiful artwork or finding a "right" interpretation. The therapeutic process is what matters.

Art therapy can support emotional wellbeing, adjustment to life transitions, connection and self-expression.
Creative activities can also provide opportunities to reflect on experiences, share stories and maintain meaningful engagement.

Professional Art Therapy, in a Creative Environment

At Art for Good, art therapy is facilitated by trained art therapists within a professional therapeutic framework.
What makes the experience different is the environment.
Rather than a conventional clinical setting, our sessions take place in an art studio where creative materials and processes are naturally integrated into therapy. This can make the experience feel more approachable and engaging, while maintaining the therapeutic boundaries, professional practice and individualised care that art therapy requires.
You may work with drawing, painting, collage, clay or other creative materials depending on your needs and therapeutic goals.
You don't need to know how to make art. Your therapist will guide the process with you.
ART THERAPY AT ART FOR GOOD

What Happens in an Art Therapy Session?
Every session is different because every person is different.

Your art therapist may invite you to explore a particular material, image, prompt or theme. You may talk while you create, create in silence, or move between the two.
There is no requirement to produce a finished artwork.
The art-making process is supported by therapeutic conversation and reflection, allowing you and your therapist to explore what emerges at a pace that feels appropriate for you.
Your therapist is there to support the process, not to judge your art.

Begin Your Art Therapy Journey

Start where you are. Continue when you're ready.

Art therapy is a process. Like other forms of therapy, meaningful change often takes time, trust and consistency. There is no expectation that a single session will resolve everything.
If you're considering art therapy, you can begin with a 30-minute consultation to discuss your needs and explore whether art therapy may be appropriate for you.
You can also choose to experience one art therapy session before deciding whether you would like to continue.
For those who choose to continue, we offer session packages to support an ongoing therapeutic journey.
Therapy is not an overnight cure. It is a process that develops over time, at your own pace.
