In 2019, Art for Good had the wonderful opportunity to take part in the Pasir Ris Beach Art Festival, a community art initiative by the People’s Association. Set against the lively theme “Long Long Ago”, our team brought the beloved tale of The Little Mermaid to life in the Pasir Ris Park sand pit through an elaborate sand sculpture installation.
The event featured three interactive components designed to delight and engage the community. At the heart of it stood the grand sand sculpture of the Little Mermaid, capturing the timeless story in intricate detail. Beside it, a playful mermaid’s tail sculpture invited festival-goers to strike a pose and imagine themselves as part of the undersea world. To complete the experience, a dedicated sand play area with toys allowed children to create their very own sculptures, encouraging hands-on fun and creativity.
This initiative was part of the annual PAssionArts Festival, organised by the Community Arts and Culture Division (People’s Association). The festival’s mission is to bring quality arts programmes to the community—by the community—making art accessible, meaningful, and shared by all.
